Chard Farm Winery
Chard Farm is now a thriving and beautiful vineyard owned by Rob Hay. It was formerly a market garden set up by the Chard family in the early 1860’s to feed the local gold miners as they passed by on their way to Arrowtown and Queenstown. Rob Hay arrived back in New Zealand in 1985 after studying winemaking in Germany for three years. After purchasing the farm, the family carried out further major earthworks before planting out the whole site as a vineyard.
